The article focuses on the recently passed Argentine law implementing a criminal liability regime applicable to companies. The new regime is based on recommendations issued by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and on concepts employed by other jurisdictions with similar legislations. However, the Argentine law does not incorporate certain requirements that are mandatory under other foreign laws. The article describes some of these requirements and stresses the opportunity that local companies in Argentina now have to create compliance programs that eventually may be effective in several jurisdictions.
